Learning in Public A collaborative learning site

About

This site was created on a whim. I was about to dive into my own studies when I realized this was a great opportunity. The opportunity was to share what I was learning so others could see what I was learning and make contributions. Essentially, I wanted others to see my mistakes and correct me so that I and the community benefited from the feedback. My introduction video covered most of this.

Shortly after starting this site, I was asked what I was using to build the site. I thought I’d use the About page of this site to answer that question and future frequently asked questions. So, listed below you will find the list of products/technologies that I used to create this site:

  1. Peer1 Hosted Server
    • Windows 2008
    • Internet Information Services 7
    • PHP
    • FastCGI Component
  2. WordPress
  3. Camtasia 6 - Used for screen and camera capture
  4. Microsoft LifeCam Cinema - Web camera used to capture me making silly faces
  5. Microsoft Expression Encoder – Used to encode video for Silverlight streaming.

I’ll keep updating this page as more information is available or comes to mind. I’m always open to suggestions!
